A while back, I mentioned that HAPPY LIFE Studio was planning to release a new officially licensed One Piece night light featuring none other than Monkey D. Luffy himself. I brought it home over the weekend, opened it up—and wow. This is what a Luffy product should feel like.
Even kids on the street know that in One Piece, Luffy’s power comes from the Gum-Gum Fruit, which allows his body to stretch and bend like rubber. (Of course, to be more precise, he’s now officially classified as the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika—a Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit with rubber-like abilities.) If it’s not made with rubber, can it really represent the powers of the Rubber-Rubber Fruit? (To clarify, I’m just talking about merchandise—not resin statues or figures!)
Well, let’us take a closer look at the real thing.
As the name suggests, it’s a lamp—but let’s save the lighting function for later. The design is simple and consists of three parts: Luffy, the moon, and a cloud base. Luffy stretches his left arm to hang from the moon, with the cloud serving as the base. The full size is W17 × D12 × H20 cm—a decent 20 cm tall.
Here’s the best part: while the moon, cloud, and Luffy’s body are all made of ABS, PVC, and soft vinyl (just like many figure materials), Luffy’s extended left arm is actually made from real rubber.
Yes—you can stretch it freely. It’s soft and flexible.
That’s why I said earlier: this feels like a real Luffy product. And it’s not just fun—it’s functional. Since it’s a night light, it needs an on/off switch. Here’s the clever part: you activate the light by pulling Luffy downward, making his “butt” touch the moon. The magnetic switch inside senses contact and triggers the light—pull down to turn on or off. There are three brightness levels: 50%, 75%, and 100%, as per the instructions.
While I didn’t take night-time photos (it was bright daylight when I opened the box), you can imagine the gentle glow. Don’t worry about power either—the base has a Type-C charging port with a 1000mAh battery. Charging takes about 3 hours, and there’s a 30-minute auto shut-off feature. Super handy!
And despite being “just” a desk toy, the little Luffy figure is very well-crafted. Think of it as around WCF scale, and you’ll get the idea. You can get a feel for it through some of the close-up shots.
A real rubber arm, magnetic control, and solid craftsmanship—this is how you bring the spirit of Luffy into a night light. For One Piece fans looking for something both charming and practical, this piece is a perfect desk companion. Ready to hang your favorite pirate on the moon?
