“Years after nuclear war devastated the planet, the barren land lies in ruin. Cities once thriving are now reduced to crumbling husks.
In this broken post-apocalyptic world, robots modeled after classic cartoon icons roam the wastes. Though powered by tiny cores, they emit powerful emotional energy.
Amid the savage chaos near the edge of a collapsed utopia, these figures carry one prime directive: protect the innocence of children. From the rubble, they strive to build a new playground atop the wasteland.”
It’s been two years since I first introduced the Wasteland Warriors action figure series—a creative toy line built on the concept of fusing classic animation characters with cyberpunk and wasteland aesthetics. Over time, the series has grown to five full sets, and I’ve enjoyed every release from the start.
The figures above are from the first four sets—featuring iconic elements from Mickey Mouse, Astro Boy, Mario, Batman, and Doraemon. But this latest, fifth set, exceeded my expectations. It draws inspiration from two of the most legendary characters in Japanese anime: Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece and Son Goku from Dragon Ball.
And this time, each character appears in two completely different variations—not just simple repaints, but unique takes with distinct parts and aesthetics. Let’s start with Goku.
The first variant, Wasteland Warriors – Doomsday Wukong: Unit Zero, wears a striking orange outfit reminiscent of Goku’s Turtle School gi from the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament. But as a “robot,” this version has no kanji on the back—only a powerful jetpack in its place. Accessories include multiple visors and a high-impact energy wave effect.
The accessories include: 8″ articulated figure, “Obsidian Blaze” head sculpt ×1, Standard visor ×1, Laser visor ×1, Interchangeable mechanical hand ×1, Staff grip hand ×1, Wasteland Blast Staff ×1, Nuclear Armor Suit ×1, Flame Armored Pants ×1, Rusted Shoulder Guards ×1, Power Combat Boots ×2, Doomsday Utility Bags ×2, Energy Wave Hand Effect ×1
The second variant, Wasteland Warriors – Doomsday Wukong: Super Mode Z, clearly takes inspiration from Goku’s Super Saiyan form. The suit shifts to a blue-and-yellow color scheme, and the unmistakable spiky blonde “gel hair” makes its appearance. In addition to the staff’s new paintwork, the palm energy blast effect shifts dramatically from blue to fiery red—amplifying the awakened intensity of the figure.
Included accessories (Super Mode Z): 8″ articulated figure, “Super Awakening” head sculpt ×1, Standard visor ×1, Laser visor ×1, Interchangeable mechanical hand ×1, Staff grip hand ×1, Wasteland Blast Staff ×1, Empowered Combat Suit ×1, Radiant Battle Pants ×1, Rusted Shoulder Guards ×1, Power Combat Boots ×2, Doomsday Utility Bags ×2, Energy Wave Hand Effect ×1
From One Piece, Monkey D. Luffy joins the line as a post-apocalyptic survivor with two stunning reimaginings.
The first figure, Wasteland Warriors – Straw Hat Captain: Steam Ignition, stays true to Luffy’s classic look—straw hat, red vest, blue pants (though longer than usual). To reflect his Gum-Gum Fruit powers, it includes a “Flaming Spring Arm” and a “Steam Ignition” hand pose inspired by Gear Second.
Accessories include: 8″ articulated figure, “Wind-Worn Straw Hat” head sculpt ×1, Standard visor ×1, Laser visor ×1, Steam Ignition hands ×2, Flaming Spring Arm ×1, Battle-Damaged Jacket ×1, Mecha Utility Pants ×1, Power Combat Boots ×2
Another version of the same character is called Wasteland Warriors – Straw Hat Captain: Nika Spark, represents Luffy’s Gear Fifth transformation. The outfit and hair are now blazing white with flame-like sculpting. Effects and visors shift from red to blue, and the eyes glow with a purplish hue.
Accessories include: 8″ articulated figure, “Flame Energy” head sculpt ×1, Standard visor ×1, Laser visor ×1, Prototype Drive Hands ×2, Flaming Spring Arm ×1, White-Hot Combat Suit ×1, High-Frequency Combat Pants ×1, Power Combat Boots ×2
All four of these 8-inch figures feature UV-reactive fluorescent paint. Materials include PU, resin, PVC, ABS, and fabric. Global edition is limited to 498 units in total, scheduled to ship in Q2 2026.
With the fifth set of Wasteland Warriors, WeArtDoing brings together two of anime’s most iconic heroes—Son Goku and Monkey D. Luffy—in a raw, emotional, and visually striking post-apocalyptic world. Each figure captures a unique expression of survival and heroism through cyberpunk-meets-wasteland storytelling. Don’t miss your chance to collect these legends reimagined.
