Sadako – Kotobukiya
Sadako – Kotobukiya: Kotobukiya has released a new addition to their beloved Bishoujo series. In celebration of the series’ 15th anniversary, the studio has introduced the iconic ghost girl from Japan – Sadako Yamamura. Sadako is the main antagonist of the horror film “The Ring,” a name that surely needs no introduction. So, how does it measure up? Let’s take a look!
Kotobukiya’s Bishoujo series figures are known for turning classic horror movie characters into beautiful girls. This particular Sadako figure stands approximately 17 cm tall and is made from PVC and ABS materials.
The appearance follows the original design by Shunya Yamashita. You can see the classic elements such as the white long dress, long hair covering the face, and pale skin have all been faithfully recreated.
Combining the beautiful girl aesthetic with Sadako’s horrifying image certainly gives it a somewhat eerie vibe.
Worth noting is that this figure depicts the beautiful girl Sadako sitting with her knees drawn up, floating above a pile of videotapes. The pose and sculpting are well executed, and the scattered tapes add to the visual effect. The base design with the videotapes cleverly ties back to the original story.
The head sculpt features the classic look with long hair covering the face. By replacing the head part, you can also recreate her one-eyed look, making the figure even more terrifying.
The main body is dressed in a white long dress. The skirt uses transparent material and has well-done wrinkle details and painting, giving it a good texture.
The legs are sculpted very realistically, not only with defined muscle lines but also with paint simulating real skin texture. Additionally, the nails are painted red to simulate the effect of scratching inside the well, adding to the figure’s creepy detail.
Overall, this figure’s design is quite eye-catching. Not only does it have good sculpting on the main body, but it also incorporates many of Sadako’s classic elements. If you enjoy this style, it might be worth considering adding this figure to your collection.
